SUMMARY The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervision of plant maintenance personnel for their assigned shift. Responsibility includes supervision of assigned employees, assignment of work to plant maintenance personnel, coordinating proper maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of plant equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assigns work schedules to shift personnel through direction of Maintenance Manager.
Supervises and advises plant maintenance personnel on work assigned.
Interfaces with other shift Maintenance Supervisors to coordinate daily work transfer.
Interfaces with all Departmental Supervisors to ensure that plant equipment is maintained and kept in a functional and safe order.
Evaluate and make suggestions through manager/management for potential training opportunities and department enhancements.
Addresses safety issues and sanitation issues that require immediate attention.
Ensures that all plant and facility equipment are maintained in a normal, safe and running condition.
Supervises troubleshooting of all plant and facility equipment and advises mechanics on proper troubleshooting techniques.
Supervises shop work and fabrication to ensure it is performed in a safe and proper manner.
Monitors preventative maintenance and lubrication schedules to meet scheduled due dates.
Interfaces with outside contractors when contracted work is scheduled during assigned shifts.
Communicates company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
Maintains time and maintenance records.
Directs the Service/Sanitation crew as necessary.
Inherent in each position is a general duty to maintain each respective work area in a safe and sanitary condition. Regular, predictable, full-time attendance is required as an essential function of this position. The employee may be required to perform other such duties within the scope of their employment as may be assigned. The employee must also possess the ability to take direction, follow instructions, work with others, follow work rules and schedules, and focus on details.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervises directly all bargaining unit employees assigned to their respective department.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or three (3) to five (5) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Employee must have all around knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and machine shop skills to properly supervise maintenance personnel in proper troubleshooting, repairs, preventative maintenance and fabrication.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Ability to utilize ERP/CMMS systems (Infor M3) for work order tracking and preventative maintenance scheduling. Ability to use Microsoft Office applications (Word / Excel / PowerPoint / Outlook). Ability to use drafting software (AutoCAD / Visio) to perform basic updates on drawings. PLC / Robotics programming a plus (AB / FANUC).
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. High amount of time can be spent in working areas with elevated noise where hearing protection is required. High amount of time can be spent working in areas where eye protection is required. High amount of time can be spent working at elevated heights up to 35'.High amount of time can be spent working with items of elevated temperatures, including steam systems and cooked candy slurry. High amount of time can be spent working with items under pressure and vacuum, including steam, compressed air, and liquids pumped under pressure and vacuum. Employee will be working with and around all areas of plant facility and offices. This will include: high and low speed moving equipment; process batching, cooking, mixing and molding systems; coating systems; packaging systems; steam boilers and steam piping systems; refrigeration systems, HVAC equipment; 480/277 volt electrical systems; 208/120 electrical systems; industrial control, both electrical and pneumatic; compressed air piping and compressed air systems; machine shop equipment; and material handling equipment and vehicles, including personnel lifts.
