Our 14-person team develops and manufactures cutting-edge scientific instruments used in climate change and air quality research. You will have a significant impact on our ability to deliver measurement solutions used by climate scientists and air quality researchers. Primary Responsibilities:

Perform machining operations on manual mill and lathe

Deburr and inspect machined items

Set up assemblies for vacuum brazing

Assist with water jet cutting

Produce items with two 3D printers

Complete item fabrication following work instructions

Perform general facilities tasks

Help create and improve fabrication work flow documentation

Initiate document change requests when necessary

Qualifications:

3+ years of industry hands-on experience in light machining

Excellent mechanical skills with tools, assembly, & troubleshooting

Hands-on experience in mechanical assembly

Proficiency with reading mechanical drawings, bill of materials, work instructions, & using eDrawings for SolidWorks

Familiarity with documentation control

Ability to work in a dynamic environment on multiple products

Ability to work with Engineering on issues and improvements

Self-starter, highly organized, works well with team members and with minimal supervision

Great oral and written communication skills

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

The ability to remain in a stationary position roughly 20% of the time, as well as the ability to move about the manufacturing facilities, including the machine shop, welding shop, vacuum brazing area to access tools, work stations, office equipment, computers and other productivity devices, as well as attend meetings, perform item fabrication and inspection, is required. Using a computer while sitting is common; most time will be spent in the manufacturing area, where eye, ear, and other protection (safety gear) may be required.

The non-exempt, 40 hour/week position reports to the Fabrication Manager and offers significant benefits: medical, dental and vision coverage, Simple IRA with 3% match, 9 paid holidays, and 2 weeks paid vacation. The position also offers a merit-based, annual profit-sharing bonus, and the opportunity to work alongside great people to solve important problems. Hourly rate will be commensurate with experience, the expected range of pay is between $25/hour and $36/hour.
