At Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB), our mission starts with the breeding and care of puppies who are on a journey to potentially become guide dogs for the blind or visually impaired. As Canine Welfare Neonatal Supervisor at our San Rafael campus, you’ll have the crucial role of being part of the leadership team that supports our incredible staff who keep our puppies (and their mothers) healthy. We’ll rely on you to manage, teach, mentor, and develop our Neonatal Kennel Technicians while ensuring safety and quality at our 28,000-square-foot Puppy Center and nursery.

What you’ll do:

Act as part of the leadership team to actively train, support, and supervise the performance of approximately 30 Neonatal Kennel Technicians, as well as provide regular feedback and identify opportunities for growth

Develop, implement, and promote strategies to maintain and improve the health and performance of dogs in the whelping, neonatal, and puppy pods of the Puppy Center

Oversee the specialized attention given to pregnant, whelping, lactating, and weaning mothers, neonates, or puppies needing specialized attention, or dogs needing special care

The qualifications you’ll need:

3+ years of experience caring for dogs in a kennel, vet environment or similar dog-related business

Understanding of dog behavior, positive reinforcement principles, kennel operations, herd health, and disease prevention protocols preferred

Ability to foster job performance and career development

Knowledge of standard office equipment, computer programs, and databases including Microsoft Suite and Salesforce

Ability to work weekend days, evenings, overnights and holidays as required

Pay Range:

$85K - $104K
