The San Pablo office of Community Violence Solutions is the base for the Rape Crisis Center, Prevention Services, HOPE Therapy, and Sexual Assault Response Team. The Executive Director, Finance, Human Resources, and Administrative offices for all CVS programs are also in San Pablo.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Reporting to the Program Director, the Case Specialist of Human Trafficking Victims is responsible for engaging at-risk adults and youth who have been identified as potential victims of human trafficking, mapping resource options, and possibly certifying them as victims eligible for a T Visa. This position provides follow-up to victims and continually builds the referral network of options. Some evening hours are required.

SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE:

Engage potential victims – adults and youth.

Ability to learn and promote the T Visa certification process with victims of human trafficking as appropriate.

Provide intensive, strength-based, solution-oriented services that may include assessment of family needs, resources, and support systems; relationship building and empowerment of the individual’s community; arriving at mutually agreed-upon and achievable goals; crisis intervention; and referral and coordination with community organizations, including law enforcement, as appropriate.

complete Community Violence Solutions’ Crisis Intervention training.

Attend training related to this position.

Coordinate services and develop collaborative working relationships with multiple community-based and public agencies, as well as other case managers.

Develop and maintain community and public relations contacts to promote referrals.

Maintain records according to the requirements and standards of CVS and its funders.

Maintain referral and resource materials.

Participate in the collection of outcome data.

REQUIREMENTS/ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

BA or MA degree in psychology, counseling, or social work and additional experience in child and family services required;

High sensitivity to and respect for diversity and cultural issues involved in working with clients of varying ethnicities and incomes.

Ability to relate to and communicate with victims of sexual assault and diverse public agencies and personnel;

Knowledge of and experience with the criminal justice system and understanding of issues related to child sexual abuse and adult sexual assault;

Experience/ability to work in diverse communities;

Demonstrated experience establishing and accomplishing program goals and objectives, report writing, and data tracking.

Good writing skills. Able to meet deadlines;

Computer skills in such programs as Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel;

Able to obtain clearance with the Department of Justice;

Effective communication skills, including written and oral presentations (including grant reports and written procedures and manuals), meeting facilitation, listening, and conflict resolution/mediation skills.

High tolerance and respect for individual survival strategies while promoting ever-increasing healthier choices.

Excellent listening and interpersonal skills and ability to establish rapport with people who may be challenging to engage.

Comfortable in doing community-based work.

Highly motivated, willing to learn, and able to work independently.

Ability and desire to work as a team member, with respect for conceptual and interpersonal differences.

Strong organizational skills, including managing workload and completing documentation on time.

Computer literate.

Possess a valid California Driver’s License, a working vehicle, and automobile insurance.
