CLEANER/CARETAKER
Temporary 8 week position with the potential of becoming
a permanent position for the right candidate
We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and service-minded Cleaner/Caretaker to join our team for an 8-week position starting as soon as possible. This role is essential to the daily upkeep and cleanliness of our retreat center and plays a vital part in maintaining a peaceful, welcoming, and well-cared-for environment for retreatants, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate understands how their work supports the needs of the Vajrapani Institute community.
Key Responsibilities:
Clean and maintain all retreat facilities, including cabins, dormitory rooms, dining hall, main building, offices, and gompa
Assist in preparing facilities and land for incoming individual retreatants and group retreats
Assist in the care and upkeep of the retreat land, including trails, walkways, stupas, and general outdoor appearance
Assist in managing trash, recyclables, and compost in accordance with site protocols
Collaborate with other team members to ensure the smooth functioning of the retreat center
Ideal Candidate:
Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
Good communication and organizational skills
Comfortable working in a peaceful, contemplative environment
Has an eye for cleanliness and detail
Physically capable of performing a variety of cleaning and outdoor maintenance tasks
A spiritual practice/orientation
Familiarity with Buddhism
Approved to work in the U.S.
