JOB SUMMARY:

The cook is responsible for preparing and cooking nutritious and appetizing meals.

This position plays a critical role in supporting the health and well-being of individuals by ensuring that meals are prepared in accordance with dietary restrictions and medical requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes and dietary guidelines, ensuring high quality and nutritional value.

Follow proper food handling and sanitation procedures to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.

Coordinate with staff and nurses to accommodate special dietary needs and restrictions, such as allergies, food intolerances, and medical conditions.

Monitor inventory levels of food and kitchen supplies.

Maintain kitchen equipment in good working condition by performing cleaning tasks

Assist with meal service, including portioning and plating meals.

Adhere to established policies and procedures.

Training and meeting attendance.

Other duties as assigned.

BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE:

Servsafe Certificate (within 60 days of hire).

Strong culinary skills and knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.

Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with a diverse team and interact professionally with clients, nurses, etc.

Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.

CPR and first aid certification within 90 days of hire.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks, such as chopping, slicing, and lifting.

Capability to lift and carry heavy objects, such as boxes up to 40lbs, putting away and organizing food orders.
