For over 20 years, UVFM has operated 10 dynamic Bay Area Farmers’ markets and represents hundreds of California farmers, food purveyors, artists, and musicians that are at the center of the Bay Area's local food movement. Urban Village Farmers' Market Association is seeking a friendly and dependable person to join our team and represent our organization at our Information Booth every Sunday at the new San Carlos Farmers' Market. Duties include setting up Info Booth (canopy, table, etc.), answering customer questions about the market, and handling CalFresh EBT transactions and accounting. Strong candidates will demonstrate they can commit to Sundays year-round; are reliable and looking for a long term gig, trustworthy, and friendly. Having knowledge of farming, agriculture, food, food accessibility/assistance etc. is a bonus, too!
SKILLS and EXPERIENCE:
Be detail-oriented, dependable, and punctual
Have enthusiasm or passion for sharing information on farming, tips for cooking or food preservation is a bonus.
Thrive in a fast-paced environment that requires extensive outdoor, physical work, setup and breakdown of events, and more
Be comfortable speaking to small groups of people about the market and our programs, including the EBT and Market Match program.
Have proven customer service skills and a high-energy, positive, and friendly attitude
A minimum of a one-year commitment preferred
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A cell phone for internal staff communication
Reliable transportation and a valid CA driver’s license
The ability to lift 40 pounds
The ability to work outside in all weather conditions, year-round
Being bilingual and skilled with taking photos and videos for social media are a huge bonus!
