The Family Partner provides peer support to family members of youth receiving community-based services through Seneca. The Family Partner must have personal experience raising a child who has received services. These services can include Special Education, Mental Health Services, Human Services such as CPS or Child Welfare, Juvenile Justice or Probation.

The Family Partner draws on his or her own relevant experiences to support families in overcoming the challenges they face. As a crucial part of the Seneca provider team, the Family Partner engages families in services and works with caregivers individually so they can better support the youth in their lives.

Responsibilities:

Provide non-judgmental, unconditional support to children and families participating in the Seneca Programs.

Act as a member of the Family Team, designated as the individual support person to the parent or identified family member.

Assist with coordinating and providing transportation for school, therapy, court hearings, or other pertinent treatment appointments/activities.

Work in coordination with the birth/foster parents (or primary caregiver), Support Counselors, Family Support Facilitators and Community members to participate in all functions of the Child and Family Team, including: planning meetings, assisting in designing treatment plans, assist in writing quarterly reports, and other casework duties as needed.

Submit incident reports other necessary documentation in a timely and complete manner.

Participate in supervision with the Family Partner Supervisor.

Maintain accurate documentation and paperwork including, but not limited to, mental health notes, time sheets, petty cash, and mileage in a timely manner.

Maintain professional behavior at all times, appropriately representing Seneca's mission and philosophy.

Maintain a flexible schedule, which includes evenings and at least one weekend day per week.

Qualifications:

Personal experience raising a child who has been the recipient of services

Bilingual skills in Spanish preferred

An Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred

Experience or interest in working with families

Flexible schedule with ability to work evenings and weekend days

Own a vehicle, California driver's license, and auto insurance

Clear TB test, fingerprints, and any other mandatory State/Federal licensing or certification requirements

Ability to work as a team player and with a diverse population

Good writing and organizational skills
