The 418 Project is Seeking: Front Desk/Administrative Assistant 12- 20 hours per week

About Us: Since 1993, The 418 Project has provided affordable, accessible art space for all to Move and Be Moved. In 2021 we purchased our permanent home on the Riverfront in downtown Santa Cruz, and we are committed to creating more opportunities for working artists and diverse communities, resulting in more belonging for all, especially between diverse groups. We envision an inclusive arts center that feels like home, with truly accessible spaces and programming available to and designed for every body, regardless of age, body type, skin color, socio-economic or physical ability, gender or sexual orientation. Because we own our building, we aspire to make a positive impact that will stretch beyond our lifetimes.
The Role: our Front Desk/Admin Assistant is the first point of contact with the public and our large, diverse community. Our FD/A checks students into classes, skillfully answers questions about The 418 Project, performs office tasks such as data entry, does light cleaning such as dust mopping our studio floors and wiping down bathroom countertops, occasionally gives building tours, makes sure that renters leave our space in good condition, all while maintaining a high level of care, professionalism and accuracy.
Duties:
Check people in to our building for events and other offerings
Ambassador; answer questions, explain our organizational values to visitors and potential renters
Light cleaning
Assist senior team in administrative tasks such as data entry
Ensure that renters have properly cleaned after events
Check messages on email and social media, answer the phone
Qualifications:
Skilful, graceful multi-tasker
Punctual
Excellent organizer
Detail oriented
Accurate, efficient data entry skills
Confident with or willing to learn payment platforms such as Square
Enjoy working with people
Interest in the arts, performance, community organizing, equity, inclusivity

Well-organized and detail-oriented

Self-directed with a passion for (or at least great satisfaction in) meeting goals and deadlines
Opening: Immediate.
Compensation & Benefits: $18 - 23/hr
Part-time, non-exempt position working approximately 20 hours per week
