Salary Range: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the VP, Grants Contracts and Compliance, the Foundation Relations and Grants Officer is responsible for managing a grants portfolio of $3M+ and growing this amount over time. The Foundation Relations and Grants Officer will serve as a core member of the 11-person Grants, Contracts, and Compliance team that collectively raises over $45M from government, foundation, and corporate partners. This position will involve a dynamic combination of prospect research, relationship cultivation, grant writing, and occasional government grant writing and supporting during deadline surges. The Officer will bring an ambitious mindset, strong project management skills, writing skills, and a proven track record of growing relationships with new and existing foundation partners. The Officer will understand ethical and strengths-based storytelling that centers the voices of LifeMoves clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Grant and Report Writing and Proposal Development (65%)

Write compelling grant proposals and grant reports for private foundations to maintain and grow an existing and robust $3M+ portfolio.

Ensure timely submission of grant applications and reports, adhering to all deadlines and requirements.

Collaborate with program staff to gather necessary information and data for grant proposals and reports.

Build and maintain expert, up to date knowledge of LifeMoves programs, local homelessness, data and outcomes, and budgets to prepare accurate, comprehensive, and persuasive funding requests and reports.

Monitor and track foundation commitments and deliverables and communicate these with program staff.

In coordination with program and finance staff, help develop budgets and financial reports.

Cultivation and Stewardship, relationship development (20%)

Develop and implement a streamlined cultivation and stewardship program to ensure current partners are supporting LifeMoves at maximum capacity.

Identify and develop opportunities for personal communication and relationship building between foundation contacts and LifeMoves staff.

Engage in personal outreach efforts, including organizing tours, event invitations, program update briefings, personal meetings, and senior leadership meetings to deepen connections with foundation representatives.

Take an entrepreneurial approach, leveraging relationships to further enhance LifeMoves presence among existing and prospective foundation partners.

Work closely with senior leadership on strategy, meeting and tour planning and prep. Write briefing memos and prepare staff for foundation meetings and participate in such meetings as appropriate.

Monitor program developments at relevant foundations.

Serve as a resource to foundation staff seeking information about LifeMoves.

Ensure and send timely gift acknowledgments.

Prospect Research and Outreach (10%)

Ensure growth by identifying, researching, and cultivating potential sources of new foundation support.

Conduct outreach to prospective foundations to initiate and nurture relationships.

Research foundation guidelines and giving histories and talk to informed allies to determine, design, and advance best approach for LifeMoves solicitation.

Portfolio management (5%)

Develop and implement an individual work plan to meet revenue goals.

Maintain an updated grants calendar to track grant and reporting deadlines and to track communication, cultivation, and stewardship efforts.

Ensure continuity in relationship management by maintaining files and records of communication in Salesforce and shared drive.

Adhere to the team's data entry protocols to ensure accurate revenue and relationship tracking and data hygiene.

Develop and evaluate measures of success in grant activities and produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to track results.

Periodically provide revenue re-projections based on actual year-to-date performance.

On an as-needed basis, support government and corporate grant writing and report

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in a related field

Minimum of 5-7 years of experience developing foundation relationships and soliciting foundations for funding including proposal and report writing.

Proven track record of managing a 7-figure grants portfolio.

Exceptional writing, organizational, analytical, critical-thinking, and prioritization skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with foundation representatives and internal stakeholders.

Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

Ability to synthesize complex material, to translate it into readable and engaging prose, and to communicate it clearly and succinctly to various stakeholders.

Ability to build and interpret a program budget and financial reports.

Outstanding ability to set, articulate, and adhere to project timelines and processes in a collaborative work environment.
