Mental Health Living Skills Trainer Position Details
Our clients are in recovery, learning to manage their symptoms, building positive social connections and getting involved in school or seeking employment. Our role is to support people with disabilities as they work towards their personal goals and overall independence. Training is broad and varied. It can range from helping a person settle into a new apartment and organize their belongings, to teaching cooking skills, or helping to use their phone/tablet/computer, etc.
In this role, Mental Health Living Skills Trainers will provide Independent Living Skills training and require counseling, case management/coordination skills. The Mental Health Living Skills Trainers will collaborate with Behavioral Health Case Managers, Golden Gate Regional Center (GGRC) Case Managers, and other community agencies, (Department of Rehabilitation, College of Marin Student Accessibility Services, and Residential Housing Managers) as well as the individual's family. This position will entail participation in multi-disciplinary team meetings, Annual Meeting, and case conferences. The Mental Health Living Skills Trainers may share casework responsibilities with other Integrated Community Services Staff members to support client ILS goals and continued progress. The ability to assess and communicate a client's needs, to prioritize, to communicate and collaborate with a variety of involved parties and use of good judgment is essential.
This job can be part time or full time, $22-$25/hr DOE, plus potential overtime accrual. Shifts are fairly flexible between 9am-7pm. Your day would include working with multiple clients for short periods of time throughout the day. Weekend and/or weekday shifts available at locations throughout Marin.

DUTIES
Support clients around their goals, such as transportation training, domestic skills, socialization, financial skills, personal health and hygiene
Attend staff trainings to learn person-centered strategies for partnering with individuals with mental/behavioral health diagnoses
Keep detailed progress notes after each session and update the client's file on the computer
Complete and submit all forms on time, including monthly and annual reports
Attend case conferences with clients, families and other agencies they work with if necessary
Attend staff meetings to discuss current cases and brainstorm creative solutions to challenges
QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience with this population or lived experience is preferred. Substitute education in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social work or humanities.
Basic computer literacy, specifically with email and Microsoft Office Excellent verbal and written skills
