Rebuilding Together San Francisco (RTSF) is a local affiliate of Rebuilding Together, a national organization that includes more than 110 affiliates serving communities nationwide and mobilizing thousands of volunteers each year.
We’re looking for a dynamic individual that will help us continue to advance our mission in the community. This unique opportunity allows someone to put their technical skills to good use: keeping people in their homes. Our office is fast paced, RTSF serves over 150 neighbors a year and the need for our services is growing. The ideal candidate has technical knowledge of construction, is great with people, and a strong connection to affordable housing. The position is full-time and reports to the Executive Director. The Project Coordinator is a field position and is responsible for performing Home Assessments, coordinating Construction Installations, and supporting our Build Day Events. The Project Coordinator works in collaboration with staff members, skilled volunteers, non-skilled volunteers, and vendors to ensure quality services are delivered to clients.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Client Services (70%)
Utilize RTSF’s 25 Healthy Housing checklist to conduct Home Assessments
Conduct Home Assessments for 5-10 neighbors per week
Coordinate approved minor/ moderate property repairs with volunteers/ vendors
Recommend and prioritize health and safety installations for neighbors
Work with Client Services Manager to draft scopes of work based on home assessments
Identify Homes that could be featured on Build Day for volunteers
Procure construction tools and materials as needed for projects
Lead inventory organization of warehouse supplies
Nurture relationships with vendors for donations, discounts, and purchase of materials and labor to complete repair
projects
Identify and share alternative resources for low-income homeowners
Volunteers/ Event Build Days (30%)
With staff, select appropriate projects based on detailed site review, qualifications, mission, volunteer capacity and financial resources
Work with staff to identify appropriate expertise for projects
Act as lead for volunteers on Build Days
Support staff with volunteer assignments for Rebuilding Day programs
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
2+ years of professional experience
Strong familiarity with residential construction
Ability to lift 30lbs on a regular basis
Strong interpersonal skills and high comfort level in entering homes in the community
Knowledgeable of construction industry and basic installations
Strong customer service mindset with effective and diplomatic, yet supportive communication style with volunteers who provide and need varying levels of support
Excellent problem solver with attention to developing and improving RTSF programs
Ability to excel in a team-oriented environment and desire to work deeply in the community
Valid CA driver’s license and willingness to drive
Pass a background check and fingerprinting
Flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends throughout the year, particularly in preparation for National Rebuilding Day (February-April) and Team Build projects
Though not required, the following are helpful skills and experience for the position:
Associate degree or commensurate experience
Knowledge of our service area, specifically the neighborhoods of San Francisco
