We are a nonprofit institution founded in 1921 with branches in the Mission District, Richmond Districts, and at partnership sites throughout San Francisco serving 3,300 students annually. Our expanded campus at our Mission District Branch, including a newly built Recital Hall, opened in January 2024.
Position Summary:
The Weekend Reception position at Community Music Center will be a part of the CMC reception team while aiding the registration team. You will be the first person welcoming the community onsite and will help ensure that students, faculty, and renters have the best experience possible at CMC. The ideal candidate would be fluent in both English and Spanish, a strong communicator with a positive attitude, and someone who can process well in a busy environment.
Essential Job Duties:
Front Desk Management
Greet and assist visitors in a courteous manner, answering inquiries and directing visitors to the appropriate staff or classrooms
Phone and Email Communication
Handle phone calls and emails professionally, providing information about classes, schedules, and general inquiries.
Relay messages promptly to the relevant parties.
Registration Support
Assist with the registration process, including collecting and processing fees, maintaining accurate records, renting instruments, and helping prospective students with enrollment procedures as directed by the Registration Team.
Rental and Operations Support
Collect payments for rental spaces, direct renters, and help ensure a positive experience for event attendees.
Learn and execute the rental process and assist the Hall Manager when needed during events.
Receptionist will also be responsible for opening/closing the building and will need a full understanding of the alarm system (training provided).
Schedule Coordination
Assist with scheduling and room bookings
Communicate with CMC instructors to ensure the smooth operation of classes and events.
Administrative Tasks
Perform various administrative duties such as filing, data entry, and maintaining office supplies to support the efficient functioning of the expanded CMC campus.
Customer Service
Address concerns, provide information, and ensure a positive experience for students and parents.
Resolve issues or escalate them to the appropriate staff when necessary.
Learn and enact CMC’s de-escalation procedure and first aid procedure.
Promotion and Marketing Assistance
Take pictures during the event and complete a report following each event.
Working conditions:
This is a part-time, non-exempt, in-person position. The hours for Weekend Reception staff are Saturdays 8:30am to 5:30pm and Sundays 9am to 3:30pm.
Compensation: This is a part-time position with an hourly rate in the range of $30.00–$35.00.
