PT to FT Bookkeeper Needed

We are in search of a dependable, adaptable and focused individual, to take up the Bookkeeper role for our established retail company. This position is a Part Time to Full Time position, with intention to train with and transition into current Bookkeeper's role.

Basic Function: The ideal candidate must be able to accept and adapt to training, work independently as well as take direction from members of management. Candidate will also be assisting with data entry, filing, and light reception, so they must be detail-oriented, work well under pressure, and have the ability to self-start, self-manage, and prioritize, while maintaining a pleasant and welcoming demeanor. Individual must be able to accept and confer with visitors, take and direct phone calls, and maintain the order of the front office. Working quickly and efficiently, with high accuracy is a must. Must possess excellent communication skills and ability to be calm under pressure. Two years clerical and bookkeeping experience required.

Bookkeeper creates financial transactions and maintains financial reports from that information. The creation of financial transactions includes posting information to accounting journals or accounting software from such source documents as invoices to customers, cash receipts, and supplier invoices. The bookkeeper also reconciles accounts to ensure their accuracy.

Responsibilities and requirements include, but are not limited to:

BOOKKEEPING

- Tag and monitor fixed assets

- Pay supplier invoices in a timely manner

- Take all reasonable discounts on supplier invoices

- Pay any debt as it comes due for payment

- Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants

- Code and enter invoices in QB in a timely manner

- Match POs with invoices

- Conduct a monthly reconciliation of every bank account

- Conduct periodic reconciliations of all accounts to ensure their accuracy

- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system

- Maintain the chart of accounts

- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management

- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements

ADMIN SUPPORT

- Answering and transferring calls, accepting and directing visitors

- Maintain a clean and organized front reception area

- Order supplies, as needed and requested

- General clerical functions such as filing, scanning, data entry, etc.

- Provide support to administrative staff with various projects, including desk work related to human resources assistance and general research

SOFTWARE & SKILLS

- Knowledge of basic office equipment and Microsoft Office suite preferred

- Quickbooks experience required

- Experience with PRG or equivalent payroll software

- Ability to multitask and prioritize, a must

- Maintain friendly work environment

Candidate should have an Associate's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience, as well as a knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles.
