Produce Department Manager

Palace Market in Point Reyes seeks an experienced Produce Manager to join our team of good food enthusiasts. Our longterm Produce Manager is moving on to the next phase of her life, and we're looking for someone to take her place as a central part of our team.

Does the following sound like you?

You have

A combination of 3+ years produce and retail/foodservice management experience.

A provable skillset in proper product care - prep, wash, pack, display, etc.

Excellent communication skills.

A growth mindset - can accept constructive criticism gracefully and adjust work accordingly.

You are

Borderline obsessive about all things produce, especially partnerships with our local producers.

Proactive - You perform well under pressure because you’re always looking ahead, and planning, planning, planning.

Type-A about cleanliness and food safety.

A dependable and humble team player, who takes serious pride in everything you do.

You will

Provide and model warm and engaging customer service.

Nurture a positive working environment and lead by example.

Ensure all products are consistently offered in the best possible quality.

Track compliance with various governing bodies (USDA, CalOSHA, county health department, and internal logs).

Ensure all equipment is kept clean, properly maintained, and in excellent working order.

Provide thorough training, regular feedback, and mentoring for all (1-2) department team members.

Continually assess and improve profitability and product mix.

Evaluate and improve SOPs as needed.

Ensure correct ordering, receiving, unloading, storage, and rotation of merchandise and raw ingredients.

Physical Requirements:

Can stand for 8hrs/day, 40+ hours/week.

Can lift 50 pounds.

Bend, squat, twist, reach, cut for the duration of your shifts.

Schedule:

Full-time

At least one weekend day

Must be available to work holidays (we're closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour
