Hours Offered:
15-25 hours/week
Shifts Available:
Monday - Friday 10:45 am - 6:15 pm
Saturday 9:45 - 6:15 pm
Sunday 10:45 - 5:15 pm
(At least one Saturday/Sunday shift is required each week)
Compensation Structure:
Base Pay $17 / hr
Plus 7% Commission
Averaging $25 per hour
Day-to-day responsibilities for the Sales Associate position include:
- Opening and closing the shop, and counting the till
- Welcoming everyone who walks in and building a good rapport with frequent customers
- Informing customers about where items are made, who makes them, and their unique attributes
- Guiding customer sales by upselling, cross-selling, and making recommendations based on customer preferences
- Gift wrapping products and keeping bags, tissue, boxes, and ribbon prepped and organized
- Receiving and unpacking orders, reporting damaged items as soon as possible
- Preparing and attaching price labels and hang tags to products when they arrive
- Stocking shelves and keeping the back stock areas organized
- Assisting with inventory counts and managing purchase orders, as necessary
- Taking photos or videos of products and the store either to send to customers or for marketing purposes
- Answering the phone and responding to messages from customers
- Handling customer item requests for out-of-stock products by taking contact info and/or placing special orders
- Arranging “grab-and-go” fresh flower bouquets throughout the week
- Arranging dried bouquets and arrangements, confidence with larger custom orders is a plus
- Styling bud vases and making ikebana-inspired flower arrangments with fresh and dried flowers
- Helping customers build their own flower arrangements by making recommendations based on a chosen vessel, color palette, and style
- Answering indoor plant questions, and offering to look up answers to more specific care questions
- Watering and rotating indoor plants as necessary
- Identifying common pests and diseases to help customers and keep the shop plants healthy
