Annual Salary: $106,188 - $128,582

Central San, a progressive public utility, is seeking a Chemist I/II. This position will perform a variety of specialized chemical, biochemical, bacteriological, microbiological, and toxicity analyses of water, receiving waters, wastewater, and related solid sand by-products relevant to wastewater collection, treatment, and disposal; collect samples; and perform and/or assist in the conduct of complex research projects.

Eligible to apply for advancement to the level II position ($4,604.34 - $5,567.78 Bi-Weekly) after 18 months.

Education:

Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in chemistry, microbiology, biology, or a related field.

Experience:

Eighteen (18) months of full-time experience in water, wastewater, environmental, or industrial laboratory testing, analysis and control.

Licenses and Certificates:

Possession of a valid California Driver's License. A valid out-of-state driver's license will be accepted during the application process. Must possess a valid California Driver's License within 90 days of appointment.

Possession of a Grade I Laboratory Analyst Certificate issued by the California Water Environment Association or must obtain the certificate within one year of appointment.
