Are you interested in training for a fulfilling, well paid career in Biology, Biotech or Clinical Labs? If so, consider taking Bioscience classes at Merritt College!
Merritt College is a Community College located in the beautiful Oakland hills. The Bioscience department has been training students for fifteen years: our graduates work in Hospital histotech labs, Biotech companies, Personalized Medicine labs, and many other places.
You don't need any sort of previous background in science to succeed in our courses, you just need curiosity and a strong interest in a meaningful career that pays a living wage (even for the Bay Area!).
The best place to start is by taking Bioscience 101: Theory and Practice of Optical Microscopy. It is a fun, easy going class: you will learn about a variety of career options and gain a marketable skill as a microscopist.
Join us at an open house for more info, or email me. There will be several online info sessions and an in person open house Monday Dec 2nd (likely 5-7 pm).
The Semester starts Jan 23rd, but you can join the class anytime before Feb. 2rd. If you take Biosci 101, you'll have a 3 hour in person, hands-on lab each week (Thursday 4-7, OR Sat. 12-3), plus an online lecture portion (with a Zoom class Thursdays 7-8 pm).
Email Dr. Gisele Giorgi for a zoom link to the class if you'd like to join it, or for any questions of any sort about our programs: ggiorgi at peralta dot edu
