Mushroom Lab Technician

Overview

We are a small medicinal mushroom company rooted in science and guided by intention. Our focus is on crafting high‑integrity mushroom products that support healing, self‑discovery, and joy — with a commitment to transparency, sustainability, and natural ingredients. You’ll join a focused, sober, and supportive team that values quality, a motivated pace, and attention to detail.

Qualifications

Proven ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, time‑boxed production environment (work must be completed within set windows)

Comfort switching between fine‑motor, detail‑oriented sterile tasks and physically demanding farm‑style work

Comfort working in hot conditions (cleanroom up to 90°F in summer with coveralls); harvesting areas ≤78°F

Strong attention to detail and consistency in a cleanroom/production setting

Good hand‑eye coordination and manual dexterity for aseptic work

Able to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks, and lift/carry up to 50 lbs (including shaking 11‑lb grain bags)

Team‑oriented with clear communication; self‑motivated and dependable

Comfortable working in a sober work environment with no phone use on the production floor (if applicable)

Available for every‑third‑weekend coverage rotation

Preferred

Aseptic technique and sterilization know‑how; cleanroom experience

Cannabis industry production/trim or high‑volume restaurant/warehouse background

Mushroom cultivation experience (hobby or professional)

Prior production, lab tech, medical/biotech, or QA documentation experience

Responsibilities

Prepare and sterilize media/substrate; inoculate under HEPA flow; label and track batches accurately

Assist with harvesting: pull bags to stations, cut/trim fruiting bodies cleanly, sort by strain/lot, weigh and log yields, stage for drying; keep stations spotless

Review work orders; assemble, weigh, and stage materials for production

Operate and maintain light equipment (autoclave/sterilizer, laminar‑flow hoods, scales, mixers, dryer, small tools)

Document every step: complete batch forms, logs, and processing steps in Google Sheets

Sanitize work areas between batches; follow SOPs for PPE, waste handling, and end‑of‑day resets

Work efficiently to meet daily production goals while maintaining quality standards

Pay Structure

Hourly compensation: $25–$30/hr DOE for cleanroom/production work

Training provided on SOPs and safety protocols; performance feedback provided regularly

Schedule

Full‑time: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Weekend rotation: every 3 weeks we need coverage (rotation shared across team)

On‑site only (not remote)

Start: ASAP

Full‑time preferred; part‑time considered (24–32 hrs/wk) if you can commit to fixed weekdays and support the every‑third‑weekend rotation.

Physical and Mental Demands This role blends precise sterile lab work with labor‑intensive farm work. Cleanrooms can reach 90°F in summer, and coveralls/PPE are required — expect a hot environment during those periods. Harvesting areas are temperature‑controlled and do not exceed 78°F. Expect periods of standing, lifting (up to 50 lbs), repetitive motion, and close visual work. Reasonable accommodations will be made as needed.
