Jazz venue seeking Box Office/Customer Service Manager

Summary:

Seeking an experienced part-time (6-10 hours a week) front door manager. Will handle ticket sales at the door and manage checking in patrons with prepaid tickets. Must be customer service oriented, good at multi-tasking, and maintain a professional appearance. Must work closely with the public, paid and volunteer staff and with production and back-office departments. Support fundraiser and special events. Manage emergency procedures for patrons and staff. Work on site for concerts, ( 30 Sundays a year from approximately 1pm -8pm), occasionally on site for other non-routine tasks and occasionally at home or offsite for other responsibilities. Potential to increase hours by working at home if you have excellent computer skills, especially experience working with a ticket software such as VBO ticketing.

This historical Jazz Club is located in Half Moon Bay and has presented world class jazz, classical and world music for over 60 years on Sunday afternoons. It is a non-profit organization.

Job Description Detail:

Front Door Management

Lead customer service representative at the door at all concerts.

Sell tickets at the door for walk-ins.

Manage the staff and volunteers to do the following:

o Patron check-in, will call and sale of tickets at the door.

o Manage comps, seat exchanges and all non-standard transactions and ensure all patrons are seated satisfactorily, efficiently and logically.

o Ensure seating is set up properly and numbered in accordance with our seating map.

o Ensure all Door Procedures are followed.

o Ensure all equipment including Ipads, Iphones, lap top and related software is operational before doors open.

o Manage CD sales.

o Reconcile ticket sales, cash and CD sales at end of concert.

o Prepare deposit and take to the bank.

Sell Memberships

Ensure all volunteers are properly assigned to their roles and manage them on the day of concert.

Ensure facilities are set-up, including chair placement, non-stage lighting, bathrooms, set-up of other lounges, and exterior grounds

Maintain working knowledge of ADA requirements, emergency procedures, and First Aid/CPR/AED training and certification.

Assist members and sponsors as appropriate including setting up the sponsor table/benefits and providing membership information.

Report significant issues and relevant facts to the President during and/or after each event.

Work collaboratively and professionally with Production, Operations and Marketing.

Concert Management

Coordinate with Production for opening doors and timely seating of patrons.

Ensure patrons are following the rules (no eating, talking or taking photos) during the concert.

Assist the President and Production with managing the room including lighting and temperature.

Assist with closing the venue at the end of the evening.

Marketing:

Post and deliver the Post Cards/Flyers outside, to various local businesses and around town.

Skills and Experience Required:

1 Year box office experience or front door experience. Good with computers and learning new systems. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Comfortable with Ipad, Iphone and laptop computers. Familiar with Word, Excel, Google, and Microsoft Outlook. Good with numbers. Knowledge of VBO Tickets, Paypal, and Mailchimp a plus. Working in the Arts/Music a plus. Potential to increase hours to 20 hours a week if candidate has strong computer skills including experience with a ticketing software such as VBO tickets.
