The Group Product Manager will be responsible for analyzing our users’ needs and then design and develop software to meet those needs: lead the development of the software product roadmap for the learning experience domain, in service of key company objectives; design each piece of our software, and plan how the software works together; lead software feature development related to all changes and experiments in our product’s core learning experience; use knowledge of data analysis, software product management, research, feature lifecycle management, digital math and science education tools (including commercial and research tools), and how to evaluate technical constraints and integrate them into product strategy; create models and diagrams showing developers the code needed for an application; document our software as a reference for future maintenance and upgrades; develop an understanding of constraints that come from our pedagogical approach, to make sure the product roadmap supports course authors’ need to express themselves; lead data analysis, user research, and experiment design for the domain – including setting simple proxy KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to organize team efforts; and run exploration, prototyping, shipping, and evaluating new software features of the core learning experience – including working with content authors to execute tests. Other duties as assigned. Employee may be stationed anywhere in the continental United States, but will report directly to Brilliant headquarters in San Francisco, CA.
Education: Master’s degree in Science, Mathematics, Physics, or closely related field (or foreign equivalent).
Requirements: 2 years of experience in the job offered or related product management and digital product development positions. Other Special Skills: 2 years of software development building consumer-facing iOS applications using Xcode and Github and deploying the applications through the Apple App Store; 2 years of product management for consumer-facing applications on mobile native and web using JIRA and Figma to produce engineering-ready designs and product requirements; 2 years directing at least 1 team of 3 people total made up of software engineers and at least one designer to implement user experiences optimized across multiple platforms, including mobile native (iOS or Android) and web; 2 years directly managing work streams, work standards, and processes for software engineers and designers; 2 years directing and performing user research on adults aged 18-35 by conducting surveys (writing async surveys and processing responses), constructing interviews for end users and potential end users with digital prototypes for the product being managed, and analyzing third-party market data to assist with the product’s future implementation; 1 year directly product managing a digital educational product; 1 year producing educational content in the format of online tutorials, books and videos for adults on technical topics in mathematics and computer science for real-world application (i.e., developing an iOS application or practicing for a technical job interview); 2 years in using a content management system to direct the modification and extension of the content management system, which is necessary for non-technical authors to build engaging interactive experiences.
Rate of Pay: $156,000.00 - $220,000.00
