Odyssey Open Water Swimming is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled coach to guide our swimmers through exhilarating open water experiences. As a coach, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a positive environment, ensuring safety, and inspiring swimmers of all levels to excel.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and assist with open water swim sessions, providing guidance, encouragement, and feedback to swimmers.
Communicate effectively with swimmers to ensure they feel supported and informed.
Assist with planning and executing swim clinics, weekly events, and special swims.
Provide on-the-water support, including assisting our boat captain as needed (e.g., handling equipment, guiding swimmers, or relaying communication).
Monitor swimmer safety and comfort, adapting sessions based on conditions and individual needs.
Represent our company with professionalism and enthusiasm at all events.
Qualifications:
Swimming Experience: Strong background in swimming, preferably in open water environments. Coaching or competitive swimming experience is a plus.
Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to communicate clearly and positively with swimmers and staff.
Quick Learner: Adapt quickly to dynamic situations, including understanding safety protocols and event logistics.
Physical Requirements: Comfortable working in various weather conditions, assisting with equipment, and supporting physical tasks as needed.
Team Player: Collaborative attitude with the ability to work closely with other coaches, staff, and participants.
Certifications: CPR/First Aid certification is required (or willingness to obtain). Lifeguard or open water safety certifications are a strong advantage.
Preferred Qualities:
Enthusiasm for outdoor and aquatic activities.
Problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure during swimming events.
A keen understanding of swimmer psychology and motivational techniques.
Flexibility to work weekends and early mornings as required for events.
