Position: Mechanical Design Drafter
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Drafter (SolidWorks) to create 2D/3D models, manage BOMs/MRP data, and review customer drawings. Candidates should have an associate’s degree in mechanical engineering, strong CAD skills, knowledge of GD&T, and experience with manufacturing techniques such as fixturing, tolerance stack up, hardware selection, and DFM.
Responsibilities:
Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks, adhering to industry standards and project specifications
Generate and maintain bills of material (BOMs)
Input and maintain part information in MRP system
Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure design accuracy and feasibility
Participate in design reviews as required
Review and interpret customer-supplied manufacturing drawings/source material
Maintain and organize project documentation per internal standards
Identify and resolve design discrepancies and potential fabrication issues
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Practical or professional experience using CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
Solid understanding of GD&T and drafting standards
In-depth knowledge of mechanical design/manufacturing techniques (fixturing, kinematic mounting, tolerance stack-up, hardware selection, DFM)
Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
