Intermediate to Advanced Carpenter Needed – Kitchen Remodel (Petaluma Area)
About the Job:
I’m remodeling a family member’s kitchen and looking for a reliable, skilled carpenter who takes pride in precision work. This is not a contractor gig, but it’s a professional-quality project managed by an experienced former residential foreman/designer. I’ve overseen many remodels and ground-up builds — so I know the difference between “good enough” and done right.
Duration: Approx. 2 months (depending on skill range — demo through finishes or specific phases).
You should be able to:
Frame and adjust walls, floors, ceilings — modify existing framing and install new framing square, plumb, and level.
Work confidently around doors, windows, and sheetrock prep.
Understand that your framing accuracy controls the quality of everything that follows — drywall, cabinetry, doors, and windows.
Handle remodel and retrofit work — you can problem-solve on the fly when conditions change.
Sheetrock cleanly (flat, square, plumb, level surfaces; properly countersunk screws; clean holes and edges).
Tape, spackle, and sand with minimal rework needed.
Prime and paint for a professional finish — sharp cut lines, no bleed onto trim or ceilings.
Install trim cleanly and accurately.
Tools & Skills:
You know your way around:
Skill saw, chop saw, table saw
Nail guns, screw guns, drills
Levels, tape measures, squares, and layout tools
You use tools safely, keep them organized, and take care of them.
Work Habits:
Show up on time, call if running late — no disappearing acts.
End-of-day cleanup: you always leave 20–30 minutes to tidy up, sweep or vacuum, and bag debris.
Leave the site ready for others — and for yourself tomorrow.
Take pride in a clean, efficient, and professional work environment.
IMPORTANT:
I will ask you questions about your skills — be prepared to meet in person for an interview and answer them. These questions will be the deciding factor in getting the job.
I expect reliability, clear communication, solid construction English, and professionalism.
I’m easy to get along with and I value honesty — if you don’t know something, just say so and ask. I’ll respect that. What I don’t respect is silence followed by a poor result.
Compensation:
Fair hourly pay based on experience.
Performance bonuses for accurate, ahead-of-schedule work.
½-hour lunch, plus two 15-minute breaks (morning & afternoon).
Why You’ll Want This Job:
I love this kind of work — it’s creative, detailed, and satisfying.
By the end, you’ll have worked on something awesome: a small but high-end custom kitchen that you’ll be proud to photograph for your portfolio.
If this sounds like you:
Send a quick note with your experience, general availability, and any photos or references of past work. Straight shooters only — I respect people who communicate clearly and work cleanly.
