Pave Robotics is building autonomous crack-sealing robots to repair America’s roads faster, cheaper, and without putting people in harm’s way. We’re a small, fast, no-BS engineering team in San Francisco, and we’re looking for a hands-on fabrication technician who can help us assemble, test, and refine our robots.
If you love making real hardware, working with metal, and jumping between tools without needing your hand held, you’ll fit right in.
⸻
What You’ll Do
Build and assemble mechanical subsystems for our autonomous crack-sealing robots
Fabricate parts using:
CNC mills/routers
MIG/TIG welding
3D printers (FDM + resin a plus)
Laser cutters
Assist with prototype iteration: fixtures, brackets, housings, robot chassis, custom tooling
Wire harness assembly, sensors, actuators, and general electro-mechanical build work
Help with field testing prep and post-test teardown
Keep the shop organized, clean, and humming
⸻
What We’re Looking For
Solid experience in CNC machining (Tormach, Haas, PathPilot, Fusion 360 CAM, or similar)
Welding proficiency (MIG required, TIG preferred)
Comfortable with 3D printing and laser cutting workflows
Able to read mechanical drawings and follow assembly instructions
Good with hand tools, power tools, and machine shop safety
Bonus: robotics experience, automotive fabrication, pneumatics, hydraulics, sensors, or basic wiring
Most importantly: you’re scrappy, fast, self-directed, and take pride in building real, working hardware
⸻
What We Offer
Full-time role at our San Francisco shop (Mission District)
Competitive pay depending on experience
Work directly with founders and senior engineers
A chance to build robots that actually go outside and solve real infrastructure problems
Zero bureaucracy, maximum impact
⸻
How to Apply
Send a short email with your resume, portfolio (photos of things you’ve built are great), and a few sentences about why you like fabrication work.
