La Petite Swim Schools is hiring a Full-Time Facilities Technician
Shifts that need to be filled:
Tuesday-Saturday 7:00 am- 3:30 pm
Position purpose:
Under general supervision, performs skilled, semi-skilled, and routine work in pool and related facility maintenance, including the following areas: installation, maintenance, modification, and repair work, facility cleaning and sanitation, building repair, minor plumbing and electrical repair on rotation between all La Petite Baleen locations.
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:
Travels to schools as scheduled, or otherwise assigned to perform the following:
Inspect, maintain, and repair equipment, including automated testing and chemical delivery devices, heaters, alarm systems, pumps, filters, motors, pool fittings, hardware, and pool covers. Preventative maintenance of the overall facility, as assigned
Maintains proper pool temperature, pool chemistry, and circulation; applies pool chemicals; handles pool chemicals safely and employs the proper safety and personal protective equipment (PPE); implements departmental policies and procedures to comply with Federal, State and local hazardous materials, health and safety and hazardous waste regulations; routinely inspects and/or tests safety equipment and supplies; responds to emergencies including injuries within the department and spills of hazardous or bio-hazardous materials.
Maintains records of pool parameters as required by the County Health Department and any applicable regulatory bodies.
Address assigned Work Orders using the CMMS (MaintainX), which can include general handyman work, using tools for general facility repairs and maintenance.
Purchasing of the necessary materials to perform work using company company-provided credit card
Walkthroughs of the full facility, and documentation of observed issues through the CMMS or by other means when appropriate
Check in and out with the Director on Duty at each location in order to provide follow-up, or learn of issues
Prompt notification of the direct supervisor, and any necessary staff at a specific location of equipment failures, emergency conditions, or any other circumstance that affects normal business operations
Maintains equipment maintenance records as required
Proactive communication skills, attention to detail, and follow-up documentation. Good organization and effective oral and written skills to communicate with leadership, peers, fellow employees, and vendors.
Use a variety of communication methods while on the clock, including the company instant messaging system. Be familiar with Google Workspace apps.
Possession and maintenance of certification as a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) by the National Swimming Pool Foundation or an Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) by the National Recreation and Parks Association or equivalent, as determined by La Petite Baleen
Other related duties as assigned by department management
Qualifications:
Requires 1-2 years of experience in one or more technical disciplines, including pool maintenance, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, machinery repair, carpentry or building maintenance, and general fabrication. Two areas of experience are preferred.
Is knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures in the area(s) of specialty, including a working knowledge and understanding of OSHA and Cal OSHA safety requirements for the work being performed.
Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the particular field.
Valid CA driver’s license and ability to travel
Work Requirements:
Ability to walk around for up to 8 hours a day
Working before and after business hours as required
Ability to travel to and from all work locations (HMB, SB, RWC, and SF)
Ability to work weekends and some evenings
Ability to kneel, squat, and bend over
Ability to lift up to 50lbs
