Field Technician

This position involves learning the skills required for the Water or Wastewater Operator position. This role involves on-the-job training and opportunities to gain further certification in water or wastewater operations as appropriate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operates, maintains, and performs minor repairs on water and wastewater treatment and/or distribution and disposal systems. Will help with occasional bigger projects that would include plumbing and/or electrical work.

Drive to a client’s property to inspect septic tank and sewer system and recommend the best course of action for any noted issues

Regular check-ins with supervisor throughout workday

Monitors sludge levels in wastewater process tanks. Cleans service area equipment such as process floats, tanks, weirs, walls scum collectors, cascades, and distribution boxes.

Interact with clients about proper maintenance they can undergo on their own concerning the septic tank

Fills out inspection reports to fulfill County and manufacturer requirements using technology provided by employer

Monitors gauges, meters, and control panels, recording information as needed

Collects samples and performs routine laboratory tests and analyses

Performs routine maintenance functions and custodial duties

Works safely and adheres to established safety procedures

Ability and willingness to work on-call shifts, as requested, including being fit and able to respond to call-ins in a timely manner

Maintain our existing team philosophy and culture, including cooperative relationships with coworkers and clients

Performs other duties as required

Field Technician Basic Qualifications

One year of experience in general maintenance, electrical, or plumbing

Possess a valid driver’s license

Ability to work occasional weekend days

Must be able to regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds

Self-starter who can work reliably work alone or in teams

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools employed in the general operations of engines, pumps, and related equipment;

General maintenance work experience at least 2 years

Safe work practices including knowledge of OSHA regulations

Knowledge of biological and chemical principles

T1 or D1 California Water Operator certification, or NAWT (National Association of Wastewater Technicians) certification

Pay and Benefits

$20-30/hr depending on experience

35-40 hours/week

After probationary period of 90 days, health/dental/life insurance offered, as well as option for Roth IRA
