Quality & Operations Manager

Duties/Responsibilities
● Oversee all aspects of roofing and solar installation operations, including project
planning, scheduling, material procurement, site surveys, installations, repairs, and
permit acquisition, ensuring efficiency and adherence to safety standards.
● Provide system design expertise (personally or from your org) to support the sales team
● Manage and hire all installers and support (currently 9 full-time, 2 part-time)
● Responsible for operations facilities and assets like vehicles, equipment, storage areas
● Responsible for installation quality
○ Manage the quality team to ensure jobs are audited and the teams are trained in
order to avoid repeated mistakes
● Provide technical and problem-solving support to crew leads
● Set up your install teams for success by visiting jobs, training people, and creating culture
● Provide updates on projects to customers, team, and management.
● Track operational metrics like hr/kW, hr/square foot of roof, and share with management.
● Provide the team with clear directions on jobs.
● Follow and manage process documentation
● Your time will be divided approx. 75% office and 25% spent in the field
Additional long-term responsibilities:
● Applications engineering - roof and solar mounting hardware design
● Partner in growing the product company side by figuring out how to ensure that roof
customers get offered solar
● Partner in refining the integrated Roofing & Solar business model
○ Discover and test opportunities available to integrated Roofing and Solar
installers
Required Skills/Abilities
● Computer/office proficiency including spreadsheets, presentations, word processing,
calendars (we use Google’s suite of office tools)
● Ability to plan, execute, monitor, and close projects effectively, ensuring they are on time,
within budget, and result in a delighted customer.
● Ability to read, produce, and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics
● Ability to safely handle power tools, hand tools, ladders, and roofing materials along with
inverters, solar panels, panel boards, batteries, and other similar electrical equipment.
● Excellent problem-solving skills.
● Excellent communication skills, written and in-person
● Experience in various roofing types (metal, tile, shingle, etc.) is a plus.
● Bilingual- English/ Spanish helpful but not required
● CA driver’s license and clean driving record
Education and Experience
● Minimum of 5 years of experience in solar and electrical installation or business, with a
strong understanding of AC and DC systems, and a minimum of 3 years of management
experience
● Proficiency in working with a variety of solar system equipment, including string and
microinverters, mounting systems, and battery storage.
● College degree or equivalent preferred (construction mgmt., operations, business).
● Vocational or technical school training preferred.
Physical Requirements
● Must be able to work at great heights including on rooftops, climbing ladders, and stairs
● Must be able to work in extreme environments
● Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
● Must meet all OSHA standards for working at heights
