The successful candidate will serve dual roles as a Pilot Car Driver, ensuring the safe transport of oversized loads, and as a Tire Technician, responsible for maintaining and repairing tires on our fleet vehicles. Pilot Car Driver Duties:
- Safely escort oversized loads to their destinations, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Communicate effectively with the truck driver to navigate routes, obstacles, and hazards.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the pilot car and ensure all safety equipment is in working order.
- Plan and coordinate routes, securing necessary permits and understanding route restrictions.
- Provide clear and timely communication with the transport team, law enforcement, and other road users.
Tire Technician Duties:
- Inspect, repair, and replace tires on a variety of vehicles, including trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment.
- Perform tire rotations, balancing, and alignment checks as needed.
- Maintain tire inventory and ensure all equipment is properly stored and organized.
- Conduct routine checks and perform preventative maintenance on vehicle tires to ensure optimal performance.
- Document all tire repairs and replacements accurately.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Certification as a Tire Technician or equivalent experience in tire repair and maintenance.
- Previous experience as a Pilot Car Driver is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices for escort vehicles.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy objects, such as tires.
- Prolonged periods of driving and standing.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions.
