Train Crew Member Part-time
The Railroad Museum at Ardenwood, operated by SPCRR, at Ardenwood Historic Farm in Fremont, CA. We are looking for friendly, outgoing men and women to perform a variety of tasks as a part-time train crew member. The train operates on Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays until mid-November; as well as on some Ardenwood special events and some holidays. The work schedule is very flexible. Work one, two, or three days a week, or just one or two days a month.
QUALIFICATIONS
No experience required—training is provided.
Ability to learn and understand railroad operations, observe safety rules, and follow safe work practices.
Attach air hoses and use hand-brake on railroad cars.
Ability to climb steps, bend, kneel and twist.
Have good balance and ability to stand for periods of time.
Assist passengers getting on and off the train.
Work in conditions of various outdoor exposure.
Perform grasping, turning, pushing and pulling; lift or carry weights up to 20 lbs.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, and read and follow written and verbal instructions.
Employees are required to instruct passengers about train safety and provide a short history of the railroad.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and public.
Employees are required to wear clothing that looks historic (examples provided).
Minimum age of 18.
SALARY AND HOURS
$18 per hour.
Part-time hours; very flexible schedule. Train operates seasonally from April to mid-November.
