Positions Available:
1. Investigative Journalist – This role requires an experienced journalist capable of both researching and writing compelling articles about local business developments, with a focus on the food industry. Ideal candidates will have a knack for storytelling and a proven track record in journalism.
2. Journalistic Research Assistant – This role is perfect for those who excel in information gathering. Your main duty will be to travel to popular retail or restaurant areas to spot signs of business changes, primarily openings, closing or other major changes to business models. You will also be responsible for contacting business management, staff, or PR representatives to gather detailed descriptions and quotes.
Job Responsibilities:
- Investigate potential stories about local business openings and closings.
- Collect, verify, and analyze data from multiple sources.
- (For Investigative Journalists) Write detailed, accurate, and engaging articles.
- (For Journalistic Research Assistant) Provide thorough reports, quotes, and data to other staff for article development.
- Maintain high ethical standards in reporting and protect the confidentiality of sources.
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication and research skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience in journalism or a related field preferred (especially for Investigative Journalist role).
- Familiarity with the San Francisco area and its various neighborhoods.
- Reliable transportation for on-site research.
