Conversio Health is seeking a Cost Accountant with expertise in inventory costing and supply planning for forecasting purposes. This position plays a key role in the accounting operations of the company, with an emphasis on cost-of-goods-sold (COGS) analysis, supply chain support, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of full-cycle accounting, inventory controls, and the ability to deliver insights that support supply planning and decision-making.
The Cost Accountant must be a hands-on, detail-oriented, and strategically minded individual who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven healthcare environment. The role requires building collaborative relationships across departments to improve inventory tracking, forecasting accuracy, and overall financial performance.
This is a full-time, onsite position at our San Luis Obispo, California office that reports to the Director of Finance.
Salary range for this position is $26.44 - $33.65. Expected starting hourly rate is $26.44 - $29.80.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Costing & Supply Planning Support
Support inventory costing processes, including accurate tracking of raw materials, compounded medications, and finished goods
Calculate and analyze monthly COGS, including reconciliations between purchase activity, production usage, and sales
Assist with supply chain planning through timely inventory reporting and cost analysis to inform purchasing and forecasting decisions by collaborating with key business partners
Collaborate with operations and procurement to enhance visibility into inventory turnover, obsolescence, and safety stock requirements
Prepare monthly inventory valuation and ensure compliance with accounting standards
General Accounting & Financial Reporting
Month-end close process for inventory and COGS accounts, including journal entries and reconciliations
Support full-cycle accounting including AP, AR, Fixed Assets, and GL accounts
Support and assist in analyzing financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
Track and reconcile capital expenditures, including asset depreciation
Prepare monthly labor allocation costs to appropriate cost centers
Serve as the finance team’s point of contact for internal quarterly/annual inventory cycle counts
Perform variance analysis on across accounting periods and key ratios
Ad Hoc Support
Provide backup support for AP, cash forecasting, and vendor management activities
Support projects, analysis or requests associated with key areas of responsibility
Skills & Competencies Expected:
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, sumifs, charts, financial modeling, etc.)
Proficient in QuickBooks or equivalent accounting ERP
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, especially cost and inventory accounting principles
Effective communicator with cross-functional collaboration skills
Strong time management and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
Uphold high ethical standards and maintain confidentiality of sensitive data
Experience in a healthcare, pharmacy, or regulated industry is a plus
Education & Experience Expectations:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
Minimum 3+ years of accounting experience, with preferred experience in cost accounting
Experience with forecasting, supply chain collaboration, and manufacturing or healthcare inventory processes is a plus
