Behavior Aide

We are seeking honest and motivated individuals who are dedicated to assisting others with disabilities improve their quality of life. We are currently seeking applicants for an ABA program that provides behavioral services for a young adult female. Staff will be with the client in a variety of settings, both in the home and in the community implementing an ABA program that includes activities such as daily living skills/chores, shopping, eating out, hiking, volunteer jobs, table work, expanding communication, and more.

We will train you in the principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis and offer BACB supervision hours. You will work alongside a highly qualified and supportive team while gaining valuable knowledge in the field of behavioral sciences. Perfect for psychology, education or child development majors. Experience in psychology or ABA preferred but not required. Candidate must be able to pass a criminal background check. See additional list of requirements below.

Part time, 15-30 hours/week, M-F mornings/afternoons, may involve some weekends

$20-30/hr

Requirements:

Have a telephone and return phone calls/texts within 24 hours.

Current TB clearance

DOJ/FBI clearance

1-2 years of experience working with learners with disabilities, caregiving, teaching, or other related experience.

Have reliable transportation, posses a current CA driver's license and current liability insurance for the vehicle. Also, the willingness to drive and work in San Luis Obsipo County.

Must be self-motivated, responsible, honest, articulate and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Present a professional demeanor, be well organized, and pay attention to detail.

Have excellent time management skills.

Be comfortable working in a home as well as in the community (stores, restaurants, job sites, library, etc)

Maintain professional boundaries, professional composure, and work well under pressure.

Politely interact with individuals in the community.

Maintain professionalism if and when the client aggresses, self-injures, tantrums, screams, etc.

Implement behavior modification strategies and discrete trial teaching under BCBA supervision.

Effectively communicate with others (client, family members, other team members)

Accept, follow, and implement direction from other members of client’s team.

Be creative, spontaneous, excited, and animated in your gestures, facial expressions and voice interactions.

Be comfortable around adults with autism.

Is confident, calm and positive when working with challenging behaviors

Has ideas for making learning fun

Stand, sit, twist, kneel, bend-over, crouch down, and walk for extended periods of time.

Be able to lift, push and pull up to 40 pounds without assistance from another adult.
