Staff Engineer/Scientist – San Luis Obispo/Santa Barbara, CA

The successful candidate will join our Central Coast team in California to support projects in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties, assisting clients across many industries with effective, responsive, and safe solutions. About the Role

A majority of your time will be spent in the field performing and/or overseeing project work. Up to 25% of your time will involve assisting with project plans and reports in an office setting. With the support of senior project managers, the successful candidate will:

Assist project managers/engineers with e engineering plans/documents, specifications, and drawings

Oversee and perform field investigations that include surface reconnaissance, surface mapping, surface water measurements, drilling, trenching, and multi-media sample collection (air, water, soil) for field and laboratory testing

Manage and evaluate data, perform analyses, and compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal standards for regulatory compliance

Oversee and perform remedial activities for impacted soil (excavation, in situ treatment, etc.), groundwater (extraction, in situ treatment, etc.), and vapor (indoor air mitigation system, engineering controls, etc.)

Manage scope, schedule, budget, and reporting for assigned projects

Manage project staff and subcontractors, assigning resources as necessary to complete project tasks on schedule and within budget

Develop work plans and health & safety plans, ensuring field staff have been appropriately briefed on relevant plan details

Coordinate with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients to execute environmental investigation and remediation projects

Prepare investigation summary, remedy implementation, performance monitoring, and site closure reports for submittal to clients and agencies

Location

This position is based out of Trihydro’s Central Coast office located in San Luis Obispo County, CA . At Trihydro, we believe in a hands-on approach to project and task management and encourage team members with management-level responsibilities to regularly visit project sites to ensure goals and expectations are being met.

Position Qualifications

Our team is looking for someone who has:

Strong technical and problem-solving skills

Attention to detail and accuracy, with a commitment to producing high-quality deliverables

Exceptional written and oral communication skills to communicate effectively with clients and project team members

Initiative and motivation to complete project deliverables on schedule and within budget

The ability to travel to client sites and other Trihydro offices

Working knowledge of health & safety practices and a commitment to safe operations

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (experience with Microsoft Project or equivalent project scheduling tools is helpful)

Experience with AutoCAD software is a plus

The ability to grasp scientific concepts and apply them to technical challenges

A bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering, geology, or chemistry

0-5 years of relevant experience

A clean driving record

The salary information shown below is a general guideline ONLY. Salaries are based on candidates' experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $70,000 – $80,000
