Rod person or Chairperson (entry level)
Rod person or Chairperson Position is an entry level field position. The rod person is responsible for assisting the party chief in performing various field surveys including boundary, topographic, control and construction surveys.
Education, experience and licensing requirements:
High School diploma
College course work in algebra, geometry and trigonometry (preferred)
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required
Skills desired:
Ability to write clearly
Experience in searching for property monuments, including wood stakes, rebar, pipe and nails under pavement (preferred).
Ability to assist Party chief in setting up GPS equipment or total station equipment.
Basic knowledge of field procedures (traversing and side shots)
Basic knowledge construction staking: cuts, fills & offsets
AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency desired, but not required.
Job Duties:
Under direct supervision. Setting property corners, or construction stakes and clearly marking the lath (stake).
Assist party chief in the performance of field surveys for boundary, control or topographic surveys.
