We’re looking for an experienced BOH Supervisor and skilled Line Cooks to join our team at our Mexico City–inspired restaurant and cocktail bar in downtown San Luis Obispo.
We’ve been open for five months and are continuing to grow. Candidates should have experience in high-volume kitchens, a strong work ethic, and a professional, positive attitude. We value reliability, consistency, and a genuine passion for great food and hospitality.

BOH Supervisor
Reports to: Culinary Director + FOH Supervisor

Overview:
The BOH Supervisor is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring
efficient kitchen operations and high standards of food quality and safety.
This individual requires a proactive approach to managing kitchen staff,
overseeing food preparation, and maintaining a clean and organized
workspace. The position will coordinate daily kitchen operations, provide
training and guidance to the team, and collaborate with management to
achieve the restaurant's goals.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
● Demonstrated expertise in overseeing all areas of back-of-house
operations, including food preparation, staffing, and kitchen efficiency.
● Must be punctual and possess excellent communication skills, particularly
with management, team members, and vendors.
● Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to
multitask effectively.
● Capable of troubleshooting independently or with assistance from
managers or other team members when necessary.
● Demonstrates appropriate workplace behavior and treats all employees
with respect.
● Must be a team player with a leadership mindset.
● Knowledge of health and safety regulations as they pertain to kitchen
operations.
● Proficiency in safety protocols in kitchen equipment and efficient inventory
management.
Key Responsibilities
● Lead trainer for new BOH staff, ensuring thorough training on food
preparation, safety protocols, and kitchen policies in coordination with
management.
● Act as a primary point of contact for questions, issues, and concerns from
BOH staff, maintaining a supportive and efficient work environment.
● Monitor and manage daily kitchen operations, including inventory control,
food quality, and cleanliness.
● Support in food preparation and supervise BOH staff, ensuring all prep
work, cooking, and cleaning duties are completed to standard.
● Support the kitchen team with equipment issues and ensure proper
maintenance and functionality.
● May be responsible for making staffing cuts per shift based on operational
needs.
● Liaise with food vendors to ensure orders are accurately placed and
received.
● Handle kitchen inventory responsibly and accurately, ensuring safety and
use procedures are followed.
● Escalate any staff issues or complaints to management, as this position
does not have disciplinary authority over staff.
● May be responsible for opening and closing the restaurant.
● Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe
and clean work environment.
● Supports additional BOH projects as assigned by management.
Health & Safety
● Adheres to workplace safety procedures and sanitation skills according to
California Department of Health standards for hygiene and safe food
handling
● Adheres to sanitation protocols issued by the Center for Disease Control
post-COVID-19
Requirements
● CA Food Handler’s Card
● Must be punctual and reliable
● Available to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays
Work Environment
● Involves standing and walking the entire shift
● Involves holding objects with hands
● Involves reaching, bending, and stooping frequently
● Involves lifting, moving, and carrying at least 50 pounds with frequency
throughout shift
Language
● Ability to speak multiple languages, including English and Spanish, is a
plus but not required

● Must have 3-4 years previous experience in restaurants
