Vetama Central Coast - formerly known as Central Coast Veterinary Services - is looking for a RVT who desires career growth, influence, and responsibility. Vetama Central Coast operates three mobile veterinary units and a traditional clinic. Professional services include complete general practice mobile medicine, dentistry, and surgery.

You can expect road trips through the wine country of Paso Robles and scenic drives through Morro Bay, all while helping animals along the way. You will have the unique experience of being a mobile RVT with a DVM 2-3 days/week, providing RVT assistance during procedures 1-2 days/week in a traditional clinic, and performing RVT house calls with your own veterinary assistant 1-2 days/week.

Typically, appointments are from 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday through Friday. Preparation and clean up before and after appointments may run 30 minutes to 1 hour before or after appointments, maximum. The RVT work week will regularly be 4 days, but may include a 5 day work week depending on the schedule. Do not expect to work over 40 hours/week.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

-Providing top-notch customer service.

-Being attentive to client and pet needs.

-Being patient with distressed, frustrated or disgruntled clients.

-Performing and maintaining anesthesia for routine procedures and dentals

-Filling prescriptions.

-Educating clients.

-Maintaining and preparing the hospital for procedures.

-Preparing vehicles for appointments.

-Processing payment transactions.

-Maintaining equipment in working order.

-Maintaining proper documentation in the electronic medical record.

-Conveying appropriate information to/from clients to doctors and/or management.

-May include maintaining inventory and an inventory control system.

-Maintaining drug logs.

-Ensuring all hospital procedures are in compliance with regulations, including implementing safety and security procedures. Administer safety training.

-Training support staff.

Successful candidates must have the following qualifications:

-High School Diploma or G.E.D.

-Accreditation and good standing as an RVT in California

-Have a clean driving record and valid California driver’s license

-Minimum 2 years experience in a veterinary setting, preferably small animal

-Be able to safely lift 30 pounds.

-Be able to stand or sit for extended periods of time.

-Understand and carry out oral and written directions.

-Maintain positive, cooperative relationships with other employees.

-Know the meaning of and spell commonly used veterinary terms.

-Desire continuous improvement.

Personal Requirements:

-Feel and express a genuine liking for animals and for working in an animal care environment.

-Must be able to work under the broad general administrative supervision of the owners and doctors, and to be able to use sound personal judgment in selecting methods, establishing priorities, and arriving at conclusions

-May be required to work uncommon hours, overtime, and be subject to recall in emergency situations.

-Deal intelligibly, pleasantly and efficiently with clients on the telephone and in person, often doing several things at one time.

-Display tact and diplomacy with staff members and clients.

-Be flexible in attitude and work habits.

-Enjoy car travel for several hours/day which may include some windy and rough roads

Other:

-Candidate must be able to perform duties remotely and onsite.

-Candidate may need to travel pick up or drop off samples, patients, or medications.

-Candidate may be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises and animal feces. May be exposed to bites, scratches and contagious diseases.

-Candidate must possess good critical thinking and problem-solving skills, compassion, a positive attitude, follow-through and excellent communication and teamwork skills. Multi- tasking and accepting constructive criticism is essential. Punctuality is expected.
