North American Fire Hose (NAFH), a world leader in the manufacture of lay-flat fire hoses, is seeking a Human Resource Specialist to oversee the payroll and human resource needs for our two (2) facilities located in Santa Maria, CA. This position will be responsible for ensuring all positions are filled with the best candidates, and that payroll is processed timely and accurately.
The primary function of this position is to oversee all hiring, which includes coordinating job posts, reviewing resumes, performing reference checks. Depending on the position, may be involved in screening applicants before forwarding potential applicants to hiring manager.
Additional daily job duties include, but are not limited to:
Process bi-monthly payrolls
Build and manage relationships with staffing agencies, Work Force Resource center, local colleges and universities, and any other agencies which may assist in finding quality candidates for employment
Preparing or updating employment records related to hiring, promoting and termination
Explaining human resource policies, procedures, laws and standards to new and existing employees
Ensuring new hire paperwork is completed and processed
Informing job applicants of job duties, responsibilities, benefits, schedules, working conditions, promotion opportunities, etc.
Addressing any employment relations issues, such as work complaints and worker’s comp
Administer benefit plans (401k, health insurance, AFLAC)
Conduct monthly safety inspections
Maintain accident records and prepare any related government reports that are required
Ensure performance reviews are performed timely
Ensure that safety training is provided to new employees, and follow-up training is provided to all employees
Plan, assist and manage company moral programs
Assist in the management of office supplies and services
Able to maintain highest level of confidentiality
Able to speak and read Spanish is required
