Mechanic Assistant needed full-time to support skilled diesel mechanics with basic repairs, inspections, and general shop duties. Great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in engine maintenance and repair while working alongside experienced professionals.
Responsibilities:
Assist technicians with basic repairs and maintenance tasks under their guidance and supervision.
Repair vehicles using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
Perform routine inspections of engines, components, and systems to identify any issues or potential problems.
Perform general shop duties such as cleaning and organizing work areas, maintaining tools and equipment, and ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
Unload supplies and equipment with use of a forklift.
Complete data entry for inspections, orders, and inventory.
Provide support to the mechanics as needed to ensure timely completion of repairs and maintenance tasks.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent education required; completion of a vocational or technical training program in diesel mechanics is a strong plus.
1 year experience working in an automotive repair shop or similar environment.
Basic computer skills
Basic knowledge of diesel engine systems, components, and maintenance procedures
Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn and develop new skills.
Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with colleagues and customers.
Valid Class C or A driver's license and acceptable driving record
