Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Shop Painter to join our team. The Shop Painter will be responsible for preparing and painting tanks, structural components, and other metal surfaces according to industry and company standards. The ideal candidate will have experience with various painting techniques, surface preparation, and coating applications to ensure high-quality finishes that meet safety and durability requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, grinding, and masking.
Apply primers, paints, and protective coatings using spray guns, rollers, and brushes.
Mix and match paint to required specifications, ensuring consistency in color and texture.
Follow company and industry standards for painting and coating applications.
Inspect painted surfaces for defects and make necessary touch-ups or corrections.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper storage and disposal of paint and related materials.
Operate and maintain painting equipment, spray booths, and ventilation systems.
Adhere to all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and compliance with OSHA regulations.
Work collaboratively with other team members to meet production deadlines and quality standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
Previous experience as an industrial or shop painter, preferably in tank or metal fabrication.
Knowledge of different paint types, coatings, and surface preparation techniques.
Ability to operate spray guns, sandblasters, and other painting tools.
Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality finishes.
Understanding of safety procedures related to painting and hazardous materials.
Ability to lift heavy objects and work in a physically demanding environment.
Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
