Windhorse Integrative Mental Health in San Luis Obispo (http://www.windhorseimh.org) is a progressive non-profit organization seeking housemates to live with persons experiencing significant emotional distress and needing a high level of support and interaction in their recovery process. Windhorse uses a mindfulness-based philosophy in working with people experiencing health issues such as depression, schizophrenia or trauma. This is an excellent opportunity for any well-grounded person interested in supporting those seeking recovery and well-being. It is an opportunity for self-growth and work within the human services. Specific experience in this field is not required, but being engaged in a personal contemplative practice such as meditation or yoga would be supportive to this job.

- May work up to 20 hours per week outside the household responsibilities
Daily responsibilities include:
- Participating with the client in activities such as maintaining a household, shopping, cooking, cleaning, hiking, attending concerts, plays, etc.
- Approximately 3-4 hours/day availability in the home and being present overnight
- Helping the client coordinate other activities in and outside of the home
- Attending regular team, staff and supervisory meetings designed to support the housemate and the household
- Assisting the team with record keeping of daily activities and household budgeting, as necessary
We ask a minimum of a 6-month commitment. Housemate pets are not part of this program.
