PROGRAM: FAMILY SERVICES

POSITION SUMMARY

Transitions - Mental Health Association (TMHA) has a part time position available for a Family Partner in Southern San Luis Obispo County, with a shared coverage area of Arroyo Grande, Grover Beach, Shell Beach, Pismo Beach, Oceano, Nipomo and as needed in San Luis Obispo city and north coast San Luis Obispo county. The Youth Family Partner functions as liaison and support to the families of children who are experiencing mental health challenges. Through a Trauma-Informed approach, the Youth Family Partner works in collaboration with SLO County Behavioral Health, the SAFE system of care, school districts and multi-agency staff. All services provided promote wellness, recovery and resiliency with children and families. This position provides linkage to services, health education, resource information and referral, and system navigation for families. The Youth Family Partner also provides outreach to the community regarding services available. The Youth Family Partner will work closely with County Mental Health Staff and will uphold program philosophy in all duties performed.

HOURS

Part time - 20 hours per week.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Must be Spanish Bilingual. Must have experience either working in the mental health system or lived experience as a parent/caregiver of a child who has received mental health services. Knowledge of the children's system of care and the needs of seriously emotionally disturbed children and their families preferred. Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent, including basic computer skills. Conditions of employment include: must be at least 18 years of age; possess a valid CA Driver's License, minimum of 2 years driving experience, reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, and DMV driving record that meets TMHA's current vehicle insurance requirements. May be required to utilize personal vehicle and auto insurance. At the time of hire, other conditions of employment are to comply with a T.B. skin test or chest x-ray indicating a negative tuberculosis result, and receipt of a criminal record clearance through fingerprinting. Must be able to successfully complete First Aid and CPR training.
