We are based in Atascadero, California and work primarily in the San Luis Obispo County.

Job Responsibilities:

The Lead Carpenter/Superintendent owns the quality outcome at the remodeling jobsite through conduction of a smooth workflow at a speed that quality and safety allow. Duties include:

Understand the full scope of work, design layouts, engineering details and blueprints, and strictly follow the design plan.

Alert project manager in a timely manner to project issues or client changes that affect scope of work.

Communicate effectively with homeowners about the project to enhance client satisfaction.

Direct and conduct all work with carpentry team, and subcontractors onsite.

Teach and train other carpentry team members in the best practices of carpentry, safety and tool use, and continually inspect work for quality completion and code compliance.

Work efficiently through all aspects of the project to achieve a profitable end-result.

Verify materials quantities and place lumber or other materials orders as needed.

Demolish old structural components to be remodeled and remove the debris from the construction site.

Perform all wooden constructions, including all aspects of framing, window and door installation, siding installation, finish carpentry, among other carpentry related tasks.

Handle the carpentry tools and using them safely and appropriately wherever they are required.

Work as per the project manager’s direction so as to meet stipulated deadlines and quality levels of the work.

Attend all inspections conducted by the Authority Having Jurisdiction, and timely correct issues.

Supervise a clean and systematically arranged work area.

Ensure the safe storage and protection of all materials on the jobsite or at the shop.

Maintain daily progress reports, time sheets and other necessary information in (this is a mandatory daily task).

Oversee punch list and cleanup at the end of a project, including return of excess materials.

Have an understanding of hours budgeted vs. hours spent and manage time allocations.

Contribute to the team’s development of Standard Operating Procedures and Checklists to increase efficiency and profitability.

Be knowledgeable in the holistic application of building trades, materials, and methodologies to maximize the comfort, building efficiency and quality of a project.

Ideal candidates will:

Be an exceptional team leader and teacher to raise the level of our carpentry crew in the field.

Focus on safety.

Knowledgeable of State and National building codes and how to reference them.

Center on a high quality, detailed end-result.

Exhibit a strong work ethic and enable the team to move the project forward expediently.

Have knowledge in the safe and accurate operation of key power tools such as circular saws, reciprocating saws, air nailers and drill drivers (among others).

Be comfortable working at heights—on ladders and roofs—while following proper OSHA safety regulations.

Be effective working in all weather conditions.

Exhibit a positive, problem-solving attitude at all times.

Be professionally presentable while wearing clean and well-kept company uniform.

Treat a client’s home as if it were your grandmother’s house, refraining from smoking/vaping and searing in and around a client’s home.

Prerequisites:

5+ years of carpentry experience and 1-2 years of team leadership experience.

Able to fully perform the physical duties of a carpenter such as climbing, pounding, lifting, walking on inclined roofs, kneeling and bending.

Have achieved a high-school diploma, or equivalent.

Poses mastery of the math skills required to do the work.

Legal to work in the United States.

Maintain a valid driver’s license, automobile insurance and reliable transportation to access jobsites in a wide swath of the San Luis Obispo.

Understand key safety equipment and utilizes such equipment at all times required: examples include eye, ear and respiratory protection, fall gear, gloves, etc.

Able to pass a drug screening.

Must possess all basic hand tools and small power tools; Hammer, bags, skill saw, drill, etc.

Compensation:

Competitive Hourly wage depending on experience, plus quarterly pay for performance plan.
