Description We are in the industrial sector, based in South Gate, California, and we are currently seeking a Tax Director/Manager - Corporate. In this role, you will be instrumental in managing indirect tax compliance for state and local tax reporting. You will be responsible for the preparation of non-income tax-related returns such as sales and use tax, various environmental tax returns, and business property tax reporting. Responsibilities: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual non-income tax-related filings as required by the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration, including sales & use tax returns and various environmental returns. Manage the tax compliance of state and local indirect tax reporting. Prepare sales & use tax returns for California, Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico. Prepare the annual business property tax statement Form 571-L for designated companies, and coordinate with the external consultant for other Form 571-L’s not prepared in-house. Liaise with the Finance and Environmental departments to gather information to prepare the forms and provide supporting documentation to auditors to support the audit. Coordinate and interface with external auditors related to sales and use tax and property tax audits. Manage business licenses and ensure payment and registration is current for all companies. Respond to notices received from government agencies and manage communications with authorities regarding any discrepancies in property tax statements. Maintain the tax application platform ensuring tax rates are up to date. Provide recommendations to automate and streamline procedures where applicable. Perform tax research and maintain knowledge on state and local tax legislation. Assist with additional duties and projects as assigned. Requirements Must have a minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role or related field Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat is required Expertise in ATX Tax Software is essential Experience with CCH ProSystem Fx and CCH Sales Tax is necessary Familiarity with Compliance software is a must Demonstrated ability to perform Accounting Functions Experience with Annual Income Tax Provision is required Auditing skills are essential Understanding of Compliance and Documentation procedures Strong leadership skills and the ability to oversee a team Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation Strong interpersonal and communication skills Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field is preferred Professional certification such as CPA or CMA is desirable Must have legal right to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship.
