Jr Systems Engineer

Location: South San Francisco, CA
Duration: Contract to hire

Kelly Technology is currently recruiting for a Jr. Systems Engineer to work on-site in South San Francisco. The ideal candidate will have scripting capabilities (PowerShell preferred), Active Directory (moderate to advanced), Windows (advanced), MacOS (advanced), Configuration Management (moderate). Also, prior experience with SharePoint is highly desired.

The Jr Systems Engineer will administrate and deploy backend systems. Also help with the implementation and support delivery/automation tools such as machine imaging/buildout, application provisioning, and remote support systems. Supported technologies include Powershell, Azure AD, OnPrem AD, exchange, Microsoft365, SCCM, JAMF.

Duties

Lead user service-delivery function
  • Review tickets within the CORP IT space for trending issues/impacts and engage accordingly
  • Review, update, create knowledge articles as needed when issue, resolutions, or processes are defined.
  • Help team overcome obstacles and be a point of escalation when issues arise

  • Manage workstations
  • Deploy and decommission workstations.
  • Troubleshoot system hardware (Apple and Lenovo) and manage repairs for defective devices.
  • Create and maintain system/software deployment images and scripts.
  • Manage hardware inventory and keep records of system location / movements.
  • Be an integral part of the image control and management process

  • Control access to systems
  • Manage Active Directory users, security groups, distribution groups, service accounts, and computer objects.
  • Follow documented processes to manage access to company resources.

  • Develop and streamline departmental processes
  • Contribute to development of departmental processes, with consideration of practicality and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Work closely with Engineering teams to support staff to identify and take care of bugs, and design solutions and expansions
  • Offer technical support to the executive staff for internal network functions and any Internet-enabled applications
  • Develop tests and automations to reduce workload, risk, touchpoints, and other value add opportunities.

    • Scripting capabilities (basic to moderate)
    • Overall Technical Support (advanced)
    • Active Directory (moderate to advanced)
      • Managing user objects, power shell scripts, and context of various attribute fields
    • Windows (advanced)
    • MacOs (advanced)
    • Configuration Management (moderate)
      • Understanding/ creating/ enhancing, and otherwise proficient with maintaining system structures
    • Sharepoint (moderate)
      • Understands site configurations, folder structures,
      • Previously a sharepoint admin (desired)
    • System Administration
      • Managed/maintained systems
        • Including but not limited to managing/identifying system issues, and performing updates/repairs as needed.
        • Identifying trends and patterns impacting performance
    • SCCM (moderate)
    • JAMF (moderate)
    • VPN/Access Points, Wifi, and other core functions of network
    • Software issues
      • Able to identify and resolve common to uncommon user and system level software issues
