Do you want to be part of a leadership team who values innovating with purpose, being bold, and operating with excellence in support of Stanford University and its global mission?In University IT at Stanford University, we aspire to create excellent experiences with technology for our clients, so they can focus on changing the world.The End User Experience and Support organization (EUX) in University IT, seeks a Director to lead our Computer Resource Consulting (CRC) group, an innovative team of technologists providing desktop field support and virtual meeting support to our Stanford community.The expected pay range for this position is $177,000 – $189,000 per annum.Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. Our techs are self-starters and independent problem-solvers, technically minded but with significant soft skills, and they know how to improvise when needed. The group is active, knowledgeable, and fun. CRC is celebrating 25 years, and we are a forward-thinking, entrepreneurial, and evolving team with a keen focus on continuously improving our service to add customer value. We welcome change and what is coming next while always remembering our core values of client service and technical expertise.Our ClientsStanford has 20 organizations, including 7 schools, and we have clients in all of them. We support faculty and staff in classrooms, conference rooms, research labs, and athletic facilities. We are an extension of their teams, each of which have vastly different goals and operations from teaching, learning, and research to athletics and facilities management. Our job is to make sure their computer needs are met to enable them to focus on their missions.CRC Techs have thousands of interactions with faculty, staff, and students each month configuring their devices to meet each of their unique needs, collectively enabling an accomplished community to push the boundaries of human knowledge. Additonally, you might find a CRC team member working with the networking team to enhance wifi for sports journalists at a March Madness event, or helping a research lab connect specialized instruments to the network, or working with the information security office to effectively roll out programs that secure devices with minimal disruption to academic, administrative and research efforts.As the Director of CRC, collaborating with the Senior Director of End User Experience and Support (EUX), you will:● Lead all aspects of the CRC service ensuring operational excellence, financial sustainability, team morale and development, and most importantly, delighted clients.● Lead and manage technical experts responsible for the development, design, and systems integration for client engagement, from definition phase through implementation; provide technical direction for our CRC services including desktop field, research lab, conference room, and virtual meeting support. Directly manage a team of CRC managers who each lead teams of 5-18 people.● Develop and guide the CRC team to deliver on a strategic direction that continues to improve the value we bring to clients. Set short and long-term goals.● Ensure oversight of the day-to-day operations and service health. Set well-defined operations and client satisfaction goals, with metrics and data to measure success.● Build new services to fill University needs.● Maintain positive relationships with our clients, meeting with them regularly to understand their needs and seeking ways to guide the CRC team to consistently deliver value.● Be a leader in UIT. Collaborate across CRC, our clients, and University IT. Partner with other IT service partners and maintain strong relationships with them. Represent CRC on UIT or Stanford initiatives, providing direction, insight, or collecting information to bring back to the organization.● Lead, hire, mentor, and evaluate the performance of team members. Develop team members and ensure they have the support, training, and tools to do their jobs well. Use metrics to understand and evaluate team and individual performance.● Evaluate the effectiveness of the organizational structure and programs to ensure success, development of employees, and appropriate use of staff resources.● Develop and maintain an organizational culture that cultivates teamwork, creativity, inclusion, and innovation.● Establish and manage financials for the CRC organization. Manage the CRC budget and explore new financial models that may benefit the university.
