Our 45-year-old beekeeping company is looking for a beekeeper assistant. Our crew currently consists of two (2) owners, an office manager and between 8-10 field and warehouse employees depending on the season. We transport our bees locally and around northern California as needed for pollination contracts.
Job Summary
We are looking for a hardworking, dependable Apiary assistant.
The successful candidate will spend 2+ months training in their responsibilities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting hives from field to field. You must have excellent organizational skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and a strong work ethic.
The position will be a 6 day a week position and will require evening work at least 50% of the time. Clean driver’s license a must and will be checked by insurance company. Ideal candidate must be able to follow instructions and enjoy working independently. For the months bees aren’t being moved position will work with the other crew members on feeding, medicating and overall beehive maintenance. We will train on the operation of forklift and overall moving of beehives.
This is not a desk job. Outside field work is necessary for this position - seasonally
- Additional physical demands of this role require bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, lifting up to fifty (50) pounds, able to walk or stand for extended periods of time, and working indoors/outdoors as required by the job during the assigned work hours.
Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of warehouse equipment such a stretch wrap pole, pallet jack and electric/diesel forklift
- Forklift Certification or equivalent experience is highly recommended but not necessary (training available)
- Must have a valid driver's license with clean driving record
