Job Description: Winery Custodian
A winery custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of all winery facilities, including production areas, tasting rooms, offices, and grounds. This role is crucial for ensuring a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment for both staff and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Tasting Room & Public Areas: Regularly clean and sanitize tasting counters, tables, floors, and restrooms. Ensure all public areas are tidy and presentable, with special attention to glassware and display items.
Production & Cellar: Sweep, mop, and clean floors in the production and cellar areas. This includes cleaning up spills, maintaining sanitation around bottling lines, and ensuring a safe work environment for cellar staff.
Office & Administrative Spaces: Perform routine cleaning tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, and emptying trash in offices, conference rooms, and break rooms.
Restrooms: Clean and disinfect all restroom facilities and restock toiletries and other supplies as needed.
Exterior Grounds: Maintain the cleanliness of the building's exterior, including sweeping patios, picking up litter, and cleaning exterior windows and doors.
Waste Management: Collect and dispose of trash and recycling from all areas of the winery.
Special Projects: Assist with deep cleaning projects, prepare for special events, and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience: Previous experience in a custodial or janitorial role is preferred.
Physical Stamina: The job requires significant physical exertion, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail is essential to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, proper safety procedures, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
Availability: Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, to support tasting room and event hours.
Communication: Effective communication skills to coordinate with other staff members and supervisors.
