Location: Stockton, California

Compensation: $23.00 per hour

About Us:

We are a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a safe haven for rescued animals, including our beloved pack of dogs, cats, and a wonderful herd of goats and sheep. We are looking for a dedicated, compassionate, and reliable individual to join our small team and ensure our animals receive the best possible care.

The Role:

Animal Caretaker Assistant

This is a hands-on position requiring physical stamina, attention to detail, and a genuine love for animals of all sizes.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Feeding & Hydration: Preparing and distributing meals and fresh water according to established dietary

protocols for dogs, cats, goats, and sheep.

Play & Socialization: Providing supervised playtime, exercise, and enrichment activities, especially with the dogs, to ensure their mental and physical well-being.

Sanitation & Cleanup: Thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting kennels, pens, pasture areas, and all feeding equipment. Includes waste removal and maintenance of a clean, healthy environment.

Health Monitoring: Observing animals for any signs of illness, injury, or behavioral changes, and reporting findings to the Lead Handler immediately.

Schedule & Compensation:

Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (3 days per week)

Hours: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM daily with two hours of breaks

Breaks: Includes unpaid, flexible breaks that add up to 2 hours

Total Weekly Hours: 24 hours

Pay Rate: $23.00 per hour

Qualifications

Must be physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods in various weather conditions.

Must be reliable and highly punctual. Attendance is non-negotiable as the animals depend on you.

Previous experience working with animals (professional or volunteer) is strongly preferred. Experience with livestock (goats/sheep) is a major plus!

A positive attitude and ability to follow detailed instructions.

Must be 18 years or older with a valid driver's license.
