WAREHOUSE MANAGER/PURCHASING FOR ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR

Job Responsibilities:

Warehouse / Purchasing manager is responsible for the efficient negotiation, receipt, storage, and dispatch of a wide range of goods including, but not limited to, materials, tools and machinery, while implementing measures to increase the company’s effectiveness and efficiency.

Warehouse / Purchasing manager duties and responsibilities include the following:

Evaluate suppliers by considering price, quality, availability and other criteria.

Interview vendors and visit suppliers’ facilities to learn about products, services and pricing.

Negotiate contracts with vendors and suppliers on behalf of the company to obtain the best deals possible.

Verify purchases by comparing them to a master list and recommending alternatives for expensive or irrelevant products.

Interact with suppliers to schedule delivery times and resolve shipping errors.

Authorize payments and maintain receipts, records and inventories.

Attend industry trade shows to learn about and stay current on trends and to meet suppliers.

Identify solutions for improvement in the warehouse through process analysis and determine areas of potential improvement in terms of efficiency, costs, and inflow/outflow of materials by developing appropriate solutions.

Assign daily tasks and general management of warehouse staff.

Supervise and plan all activities that relate to deliveries, inventory control and the organization of the warehouse.

Ensure all inventory is appropriately received and stored.

Ensure all material and pricing is logged into Sage 100.

Perform annual inventory counts and submit appropriate reports to management.

Investigate and report any issues in the warehouse inventory system and execute necessary improvements to enhance business performance.

Issue purchase orders to vendors as necessary.

Monitor the performance and progress of staff.

Maintain standards of health, safety, hygiene, and security in the warehouse.

Maintain housekeeping of warehouse, purchasing office and jobsite storage containers.

Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.

Issue and maintain records of tools issued to technicians.

Manage stock control, receipt, storage, retrieval, and timely delivery of goods; shipment loading and transferring; document recording and data entry into system.

Review and approve timecards for warehouse staff.

Performs other related duties as required.

Physical demands, abilities and essential job tasks include the following:

Ability to listen and communicate to exchange information in person or on the telephone.

Vision to read a variety of materials.

Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.

Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.

Regularly lift and/or move objects 10-50lbs occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 lbs.

Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Occasionally required to climb ladders or balance.

Assist shipping and receiving unloading trucks and checking in merchandise.

Prepares orders by processing requests and supply orders; pulling materials; packing boxes and placing orders in delivery area.

Sort and place materials on racks, shelves or in bins according to organizational standards, marking and labeling stock.

Open bales, crates and other containers.

Maintains inventory controls by collecting stock location orders, printing request, recording amounts of materials or items received or distributed through a computer. May also assist in counting of physical inventory.

Restocking of returned materials on shelves.

Prepare parcels for mailing.

Maintains safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and work stations neat; Sweep, dust and mop.

Organize warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times.

Performs other related duties as assigned
